You want to like the Pension Balboa.

It looks like it needs some love.

Where Is It?

It is in a convenient downtown location, in view of the ocean.

It is in the 2nd story of an old wooden Chiquita building.

A covered outdoor walkway goes around 3 sides of the building and enjoys a nice ocean breeze.

It looks delightful, if run down.

And it is reasonably priced.

However, it is also right over the bar and kitty corner from the bus station.

And no one has done anything to improve this hotel in forever.   The mattress seem like the original ones – of maybe 50 years ago.

Of course, they don’t need to improve it.   It is almost always full with transient workers, mostly those who work out at the PTP.

It has rooms with private bathrooms and with shared bathrooms.
